This popular Cornish brown trout fishery offers traditional fly fishing for wild and stocked trout, with grown-on fish of over 2lb frequently caught (and occasional fish up to 5lb). Fishing is from the bank only and wading is not advised. Traditional fly patterns (Sedge patterns, Soldier Palmer, Hoppers, and Bibios) work well but keep an eye out for the big browns chasing fry which can be explosive sport. Fish the margins and walk the banks to cover as much water as possible. ‘Catch and release' option available (barbless hooks to be used), otherwise up to 4 fish over 7" may be taken in a day. Free car parking.

Best Flies: Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear, Sedge patterns, Soldier palmer, Hoppers and bibios.

This fantastic fly fishery on the edge of Bodmin Moor is regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout averaging between 1 and 2lb with lots of fish in the 3-6lb bracket. We stock a large number of Blue Trout too and they fight well above their weight. We have a large population of resident Brown Trout too which are catch and release only.

A ‘catch and release' Rainbow Trout option is available (barbless hooks must be used). The Trout come from Milemead Fish Farm and the quality and fight they give is second to none.

Watch out for the fantastic hatch of beetles in May and June time!

Siblyback lends itself to some fantastic boat fishing with great drifts possible. There are boats for hire, but booking is essential to avoid disappointment
Stithians Lake
Near Redruth,
TR16 6NW.

For further information please call the SW Lakes head office.
Office opening hours:  Monday – Friday 9:00am –  5:00pm
SW Lakes Office:  01566 771930

This majestic water, one of England's most westerly trout fisheries, is regularly stocked with Rainbow trout to 6lb and a large number of Blue trout. We also stock a few double figure fish during the season up to 14lbs. Stithians contains a good natural head of Brown trout which come alive in the summer months for catch and release fishing. Our trout are supplied from Milemead Fish Farm (Tavistock) and they are second to none for quality and hard fighting.

Fly fishing only, from both bank and boat (advance booking is essential to guarantee a boat). Large numbers of hawthorn flies guarantee good, dry fly fishing in the first part of the season, while the large number of sticklebacks means that Autumn fry-bashing can produce some exiting sport. Tuition is available from local instructor Gary Champion (01872 863551), who can cater for groups and individuals.

The local fishing club (CAST) organises competitions and social events. Anyone wanting to join the club or their competitions needs to contact Richard Keast.

Best Flies: Montana/Viva/Buzzer patterns/Cats Whisker/Invicta.

West Cornwall

Tel:  01736 850899

Tree Meadow Fishery was opened by John Hodge in 1987 and lies in a small wooded valley set in about six acres.

The fishery consists of two lakes – three acres and one acre, which are spring-fed and give the lakes a quality of water clarity not often seen in this part of the country.
